INTRODUCTION

Ayurveda is known to be the ancient medical systems in the world that help in curing the diseases as well as provide ways for prevention of the disease in future.

Ayurveda is believed to work on 3 different humour’s present in our body; KAPHA (Phlegm-water and earth), PITTA (Bile-fire and water) and VATA (WIND- air and space). Through various methods of detoxification, dietary changes, massages and medication.

Ayurveda treatment works on principles of eliminating impurities, increasing resistance to disease, reducing symptoms and promoting harmony in the patient’s life.

Ayurveda doctors regard works with the holistic approach during diagnosis and therapy, they consider personality, mental existence and physical existence as different entities that need to be taken care of individually.

BAMS or Bachelors of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery is a 5 year 6 months Graduation Programme. Through the course of the programme/ degree students are taught different subjects; modern anatomy, social and preventive medicines, forensic medicine, physiology, ENT, botany, principles of surgery, pharmacology, skin, Obstetrics, gynaecology etc. 

In 1971, the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) was established under the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha medicine and Homoeopathy (AYUSH), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, to monitor higher education in Ayurveda in India.

 

STREAM: Ayurveda Medical Science

 

ELIGIBILITY: 10+2 in science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects and an aggregate of 50%.

Sanskrit as a subject I class 12th would be preferable.

 

COURSE TYPE/LEVEL: Graduation/ Bachelor’s Degree

 

COURSE DURATION: 5 years and 6 Months

  • 4 year 6 months – Academic Session
  • 1 year- Internship (with practical’s)
