Bachelor of Economics/Economics Honors is a three-year bachelor degree in the social science discipline. The major difference between the two is that BA economics covers the basics of economics whereas BA Economics Honors covers in depth knowledge of the subject.

BA Economics

This course teach students the concepts and processes of the economy by making them understand the definition, nature, scope, concepts, utility, production, market, monopoly etc. In BA Economics students are not much required to use mathematics as they use other qualitative and quantitative methods.

Eligibility:

Admission to the course is based on merit; students from all the streams can apply for the course. A few institutes also conduct entrance exams for admission to the course.

BA Economics Honors

BA Economics Honors offers specialization in the economics subject. In this course students apply mathematics and statistics theory to economics theory to enhance their understanding. In order to successfully complete the BA Economics Honors course, students need to have an analytic bent of mind and excellent logical thinking skills.

Eligibility:

Admission to the course is based on merit; students from all the streams can apply for the course. However, mathematics is a mandatory subject in class 12th. Some colleges have insisted on fixing a minimum percentage in mathematics as the eligibility criterion.
