INTRODUCTION

Food Science and Technology are two interconnected field of applied Science. They are concerned with Harvesting, processing, distribution, storage and preparation, packaging and distribution.

Food Scientist are concerned with checking the quality of food, study of food and its distribution. Food Technologists deal with processing and preserving the food, they help in developing nutritious, healthy and convenient food products.

Food technologists are also concerned with packaging and distribution of the products. They must provide the correct label information, research ways to keep the packaged food fresh, test quality of the goods and ensure that the product are safe for consumption. Food science comprises of various other branches of science such as Chemistry, Biology, Nutrition, Microbiology and Chemical Engineering.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • 10+2 from a recognised board in science stream with Chemistry, Maths, Physics, Biology/Home science as the main subjects.
  • A minimum aggregate of 50% is required by the General Category candidates and a minimum aggregate of 45% is required by SC/ST/OBC candidates.
